Designs and advises on plant, mechanical parts, moulds and equipment, machinery and tools, and plans and supervises their development, construction, installation, operation, maintenance and repair.

Lays, joints, connects, terminates and maintains underground, submarine, surface and aerial telecommunication cables and wires.

Performs technical tasks, normally under the direction and supervision of a manufacturing / industrial or a quality assurance / control engineer, contributory to:
(i) The efficient and economical operation of the manufacturing process and the maintenance of quality standards;
(ii) Quality assurance / control at all phases of manufacturing including testing and measurement of in-coming materials and parts, work-in-progress, and finished products to ensure compliance with standards and specifications, and safety and environmental regulations.

Originates and develops ideas to design, create, modify and arrange the form of manufactured products, layouts and containers for the products based on factors such as design function relationship, knowledge of design, art concepts, market and pricing characteristics, client specifications, method and cost of production to achieve aesthetically pleasing and functional effect for the products.

Prepares detail and assembly drawings and circuit diagrams according to design specifications.
