  • Offer attractive remuneration package, enhance job satisfaction and increase job autonomy to retain and nurture the younger generation. The management should also strengthen communication with cross-generation employees through networking or team building activities in order to understand their thoughts and needs and facilitate business development and participation. 
  • Provide young employees a clear picture of the career prospect, quick career promotion pathways and personal career development in the industries for better understanding of the working environments and career planning.
  • Render staff training in developing multi-dimensional skills for flexible manpower deployment under the fast-changing business environment. 
  • Offer mentorship programmes for young employees on the importance of values, integrity and professional ethics.
  • Make use of the funding schemes provided by the Government such as the "Reindustrialization and Technology Training Program" for value-added purposes of companies and employees.
  • Pursue life-long learning of the latest industrial knowledge and skills as follows:
    • Professional trade specific skills: product knowledge, watch repair and after-sales services, gemological laboratory, testing and certification
    • Generic skills: knowledge of customer experience, customer service and sales techniques
    • Emerging skills: digital literacy, digital media and marketing strategies
  • Enhance communication skills with employers and customers and establish a good working attitude to boost competitiveness.
  • Make use of the subsidy schemes provided by the Government for lifelong learning and career development, e.g. "Recognition of Prior Learning", "New Skills Upgrading Scheme".
  • Strengthen collaborations with industries by:
    • providing more interdisciplinary internship opportunities for students to empower employability.
    • optimising the VPET and dual-track training systems continuously and applying workplace learning and assessment to facilitate students’ learning in the authentic working environments (e.g. jewellery, watch & clock and optical enterprises).
    • Arrange industrial exchange seminars regularly for instructors to keep abreast of the development of the industries and the actual working environments so that the latest updates of the industries can be provided to students.
    • Arrange industrial seminars and visits for students to understand the latest development of the industries, work requirements and their expectations of the industries.
  • Apply education technology such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to engage students’ learning and arouse their interest to the industries in the new era of digitalisation.
  • Provide training programmes in emerging technology covering digital literacy, digital marketing through websites, social media, mobile apps and other electronic platforms, promotion through key opinion leaders (KOL), online store operation, and photography and film production to cater for the new trend of digital transformation for the industries.
  • Provide flexible and creative training schemes for practitioners, such as online or bite-size training for lifelong learning and skills upgrading.
  • Assist the jewellery, watch & clock and optical industries in formulating appropriate policies on human resources and training of adequate manpower to support the sustainable development of the industries.
  • Subsidise employees in the jewellery, watch & clock and optical industries for upskilling in new technologies, such as digital literacy and artificial intelligence.
  • Cooperate with training institutions to offer training programmes in digital transformation of enterprises, and assist enterprises in mastering the technologies for appropriate transformation and an increase in productivity.
  • Strengthen the promotion of vocational and professional education and training (VPET) to different stakeholders such as secondary school students, parents and teachers.
